School Resource Officers
Purpose
School Resource Officers (SRO) are members of the support division, who are assigned to serve schools in the corporate city limits of the City of Cleveland. They work in collaboration with educators, students, parents, and the community to reduce crime, drug abuse, violence and to provide a safe school environment.
Certification
School Resource Officers from the police department must attain certification by the National Association of School Resource Officers following 40 hours of training.
Duties
- Patrol school grounds, respond to calls for service on school grounds, and participate in juvenile enforcement missions to prevent juvenile delinquency.
- Provide guidance on ethical issues in a classroom setting or informal settings.
- Provide individual counseling and mentoring to students.
- Give classroom presentations on the work of the SRO, the criminal justice system, and other related topics that help build an understanding of law enforcement's role in the community.
- Participate in school-related events.

- Officer Travis Graig: Cleveland High School, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday
- Officer Willie Espinoza :Cleveland High School, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday
- Officer Rual Cruz: Cleveland Middle School, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday
- Officer Chris Mason: Arnold Elementary School/Denning Center 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday
- Officer Richie Tanksley: E.L. Ross Elementary 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
- Officer Jansen Vasey: Stuart Elementary School, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
- Officer Geoffrey Humbred: Mayfield Elementary School, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
- Officer April Ratcliff: Blythe-Bower Elementary School, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
- Officer Mike Harris: Candy's Creek Cherokee Elementary School, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
- Officer John Milen: Yates Primary School, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday
