The Tennessee Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division has awarded the Cleveland Municipal Airport Authority a $2.5 million grant for a runway extension at the Cleveland Regional Jetport. This is an 80/20 grant with the State of Tennessee providing $2.25 million and the City of Cleveland contributing $250,000 in matching funds for the project. The runway extension project will increase the Jetport's runway length by 700 feet increasing the total length from 5,500 feet to 6,200 feet.
The runway extension project will improve operation safety, accommodate a wider range of aircraft to utilize the facility and services offered at the Jetport, and will create additional opportunities for future regional investment and job growth.
The City is in the process of soliciting bids for the project.
