Veterans, their families and many others joined local veterans organizations for the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Bradley County Courthouse Square. The Southeast Tennessee Veterans Home Council awarded the Bill Norwood Veterans Service Award to the Bradley County Veterans Funeral Honor Guard. The names of those from Bradley County who gave their lives in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Iraq wars were solemnly read. Guest speaker was Jerry Millwood, pastor at Hopewell Church of God, retired U.S. Air Force chaplain (LTC). Mayor Tom Rowland read the final roll call of local veterans who passed away the past year.
The US Naval Sea Cadets, Chattanooga Divisionprovided the color guard. The Cleveland High School drummers and buglers provided taps. A three volley salute was fired by the Bradley CountyVeterans Firing Squad.
