The city of Cleveland's financial staff has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.
It is the 28th consecutive year the city has received this national recognition from the association.
"It shows that our folks are good stewards of the public's funds," said Mayor Tom Rowland.
“We are honored to receive the Certificate of Achievement from the GFOA,” said Shawn McKay, Assistant City Manager/CFO. “This is the highest level of recognition in governmental financial reporting. Credit must be given to City Account, Amy Newman. Without her hard work and dedication this aware would not be possible”.
According to the association "the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management."
The latest Certificate of Achievement is for the comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year which ended June 30, 2015.
