AACE Accredited Agency

The City of Cleveland’s Code Enforcement Division is proud to be an accredited agency through the American Association of Code Enforcement (AACE). This national accreditation reflects our commitment to operating at the highest standards of professionalism, fairness, and accountability in the field of code enforcement.

To achieve this recognition, the division underwent a comprehensive year-long review process, including peer evaluation and documentation demonstrating compliance with more than 50 national standards. These standards cover key areas such as legal due process, officer training and certification, consistent case handling, public transparency, and interdepartmental coordination.

Accreditation ensures that our enforcement practices not only protect public health and safety, but also uphold the rights of property owners and residents. It serves as a public assurance that Cleveland’s code enforcement operations are transparent, responsive, and aligned with best practices nationwide.

Purpose

The Code Enforcement Division enforces city codes and regulations that result in the protection of the health, safety and welfare of all citizens.
