Councilman May has been involved in service to the City of Cleveland since he was a student and volunteering with the fire department. This dedication to firefighting continued as he married and worked at Olin and Bowaters. He joined the CFD full time soon after it became a paid position. He served as chief for 14 years bringing the ISO rating from 5 to 3.
Councilman May was a founding member of the 911 board. Through the years he has volunteered on numerous projects, boards and committees. He served on the Tennessee Municipal League's Board of Directors. Councilman May is a state licensed contractor. He has worked with his son in 3D Construction since July, 1995. He is married to retired teacher Linda May, and they have two children.
The 4th District consists of the Senior Center, Lee University and part of Cleveland High School.
