*The deadline for the Board of Zoning Appeals will be the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 5:00pm. 

*The deadline for the Planning Commission will be the 4th Tuesday of every month at 5:00pm.

Programs, Services, and Functions The Planning Division of the Development and Engineering Services Department carries out current and long range planning activities as well as grant administration. Long-range planning activities include the development and maintenance of the comprehensive plan encompassing land use, natural resources, housing, public facilities, transportation, and economic development.

A particular related function is the administration of the Cleveland Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CUAMPO) which is engaged in transportation planning and the administration of federal, state, and local funds for transportation projects on major roadways in the urbanized areas of Bradley County.

 Current Planning Current planning activities include

  • Assistance to property owners, developers, and others in the application of zoning and subdivision regulations
  • Review of project plans for compliance with zoning and subdivision regulations
  • Support of the Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals.

 Grant Administration Grant administration activities include the on-going implementation of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program which has provided federal funds for a variety of housing and public facility improvements and codes enforcement within the CDBG target area consisting of census-designated low- and moderate-income areas in the City of Cleveland.

This activity has also included administration of other funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs providing affordable housing and emergency shelter, assistance with other housing-related programs, and assistance in the implementation of programs funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation such as safe routes to school (constructed sidewalks near elementary schools) and transportation enhancements (construction of Greenway and Cleveland railroad depot renovation).
